OriginalFake x Medicom Toy Dissected Companion Bearbrick Black Preview
Following up on the recent grey scale launch, Medicom Toy previews its next OriginalFake collabo release, this time showing off KAWS’ Dissected Companion in a black colorway. Following the same lines as the previous drop, all three scales (100%, 400%, 1000%) will be made available, with an official release set for May 8th through the select OriginalFake outlets.
Loake Brighton Oxblood Colorway
Founded in 1880 in Northamptonshire, England, Loake’s aim was to provide the most handsome, comfortable and durable gentlemen’s shoes possible. This Brighton model sports an “Oxblood” burgundy, creating a a classic tassle-top loafer. Grotesk: A Decade of Swiss Design Lost in Brooklyn Book
How does a Swiss born, Belgian trained, graphic designer end up doing t-shirts for Spike Lee, collaborating with Bushwick graffiti vandals, and earning a Phd in vintage American sports uniforms? Kimou Meyer, aka Grotesk, arrived in New York at precisely the moment when the new downtown art scene spilled over into stores, products and brands. Over ten years, Kimou worked with or for almost all the key players in that ever-changing game, drawing on his classical training and fresh eyes on the city to develop an iconic graphic language and style. The story of his remarkable decade-long visual journey is told in these pages. The book is available at Upper Playground retail locations and online at the Upper Playground online store.

How old are you? 21
When did u start making music? Started writing at 13, put the pen down at 18 .. and the rest was history
Who are your influences? Kanye, Wayne, Pharrell and Jay all play major roles ... I was really young when Big and Pac where shuttin the game down, so I wasn't inluenced or impacted that much because I was so young. When I finally did start understanding what I heard, and really getting into ... It was a new era .. And those guys are staples and icons in pop culture ... I think anyone can be influenced by them in some way, form or fashion because they're that amazing
If you could compare yourself to an already established artist, who would that be and why? I woulnd't compare myself to anyone ...People may draw comparison .. but I could never. Simply because I'm too focused on what I got going on to focus on the next man.
How are you affiliated with Pharrell and Fly Society? P is like a mentor to me man .... I'm forever greatful for the things he's instilled in me as a artist and a person. With Fly Society, it's just major support . Those guys have always showed me and my people love from jump.. They're real as they come over there. Shout out to Quy
Who is your hero? God, My mother, father .. grandfather.. flatout
What do you think your listeners will get out of your music? Well, I want them to understand that I'm something different from my city ... and I'm speaking for a culture that does exist out there. Everything isn't "derrty" this and "derrty" that all the time you know ? Everyone doesn't pop lock and drop it every night. In no way am I discrediting the ones who blazed a trail before me, because I'm fans of their work, but it's a new generation . It's time for something different .. Above all, I just want people to appriciate real music ...
What do you think about when you develop new songs? Whatever I'm feeling at the time ... whatever I see or hear about througout the day ... I just go in and ignite
What made you want to get into the business? My father .. He was always heavy in music ... As much as he wanted to pursue it .. He never could because he was working all the time. He definitely started stirred something up within me . He had me listening to people like Boney James, Sprya Grya, Steel Pulse, Led Zepplin ... The list can go on .. I was exposed to a variety of music at such a young age.. I knew it something I wanted to be a part of ... Not so much the business aspect, but being able to say something that would resinate with differnt people all over the world. Music is the only universal language
What is the most difficult thing you had to endure in the music industry? Just being heard.. but thats working itself out... Other than that I think the most diificult part for me is dealing with people who front on a daily basis ... Their only job is to feed you bs, and fuck you over
What do you hope to do with your music? Speak for a city .. Speak for a culture .. Speak for a generation .. simply inspire
What do you think of the music industry right now? It's cool, could be better ... but then again .. a lot of things could be better. I aint trippin
What your favorite song and artist right now? Thats a hard one .. I can't really say . One of my favorite songs right now is definitely MGMT's "Someones Missing" .. but it's tied with "Electric Feel" ... and both of those are tied with Cudders " Soundtrack To My Life".. I can't call it. My favorite artist right now may be Waka Flocka. That may come as a shock to some, but it shouldn't. I'm all over the spectrum man

Sneaker Con is Back!!
If you’re in the New York area next month, circle the date as Sneaker Con announces its 2010 show. Offering the ability to showcase and sell face to face, Sneaker Con provides a proper platform for both vintage and new sneakers and apparel. "Rome Wasnt Built In A Day"
Joe Hahn (Linkin Park/SURU) works with Jeff McMillan on a limited edition print called “Rome Wasn’t Built in A Day”. They already collaborated on a SURU exhibition a couple of years back. Only 50 units are being produced, each hand-numbered and signed by both creatives, measuring in at 22″×22” and reproduced with archival giclee on hahnemuhle fine art paper. For those who want to cop the prints are now available directly on SURU.
